Recommended Reading

I imagine I must have read several thousands of books in my lifetime.

For this list I will be sharing books that have made the most impact on me and the ones I like to revisit most often.

These may or may not be the best books for you!

We are all different: at different times, different things can resonate for us.

The list is likely to be updated over time. So check back occasionally.

  1. Old Path White Clouds - Thich Nhat Hahn (this book inspired me to be a monk)
  2. I Am That - Nisargadatta Maharaj (and all other books on his teachings)
  3. A Thousand Names for Joy - Byron Katie (and all her books)
  4. Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu (Translated Stephen Mitchell) 81 verses of pure wisdom
  5. Wisdom From An Empty Mind - Jacob Liberman (Out of print at present)
  6. Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung - Ajahn Brahm (heart transforming stories)
  7. The Lost Writings of Wu Hsin - Wu Hsin (by Roy Melvyn)
  8. Verses On Faith in Mind - Sengstan (or Book of Nothing - Osho's Commentary on these Verses)
  9. Ashtavakra Gita - There are many good translations online
  10. The Art of Possibility - Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander
  11. Deep Work - Cal Newport
  12. The Headless Way - Douglas Harding
  13. The Wisdom of Sundays - Oprah Winfrey
  14. Maro Up - Ken Honda and Janet Bray Attwood
  15. Zero Limits - Joe Vitale (despite his self-promotion, I am grateful for this book for teaching me Ho'oponopono)
  16. Dipa Ma - Amy Schmidt (I read this book in one go - didn't sleep that night - loved it so much)
  17. The Complete Works of Robert Adams - Compiled by his students (its not available in print, will share the PDF below)
  18. The Years of Awakening + The Years of Fulfilment - Two Part Biography of J. Krishnamurti by Mary Lutyens
  19. Wake Up and Roar - HWL Poonjaji (Papaji)
  20. Majjhima Nikaya - The Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha - Translated by Bhikkhu Bodhi
  21. Everyday Seeing - Richard Lang (a compilation of teachings from Douglas Harding)
  22. Cave in the Snow - Vicki Mackenzie (on the inspiring life of Zetsunma Tenzin Palmo)
  23. The Hidden Lamp - Florence Caplow and Susan Moon (Stories from 25 centuries of awakened women)
  24. Graceful Exits: How Great Beings Die - Sushila Blackman (Anecdotes of those who died gracefully)
  25. Grace & Grit - Ken Wilber (I love this book)
